Chef’s Secret Supper Club at The Old Bank, Southport.

Earlier this month, I was kindly invited to The Old Bank in Southport to try Chef’s Secret Supper Club, which is five courses with five paired Gins for £30pp.

On arrival, we were shown up stairs to an area they had set up for the event which had a bar, a number of tables and the Tappers Gin that we would be trying during the course of the evening.

The night started with Chef coming and introducing himself, giving us a brief on what to expect from each of his dishes, handing over to Eímear who explained all about the Tappers Gins and which flavours they had to pair with each dish.

The menu;

• Seabass ceviche, chilli, iced cucumber, lime
& micro coriander
• Caramelised goats cheese, carpaccio of beet
& beetroot ketchup
• Local reared pork, burnt apple pure, tenderstem
brocolli & cider jus
• “Deconstructed” peach melba, raspberry gel
& meringue dust
• Warm crisp brie, onion puree & warm biscuit dust

Each dish arrived beautifully presented and as we drank the Gin, the flavour of the foods changed and somehow tasted even better. Eímear guided us through the Gins as each one arrived and explained where they had came from and what flavours to expect.

It was a lovely experience and the food was delicious. Chef really knew how to please our tastebuds.
